Check Naver search results from a Korean IP

What changes when you open search.naver.com from a Korean home connection, what does not, what the site's rules allow, and the exact proxy settings to use.

Quick answer

How do I see Naver Search the way a visitor in South Korea does?

Naver (search.naver.com) is South Korea's largest web portal, and its result page is built from sections: ads, blogs, cafés, news, shopping and web documents. To check how your brand or content appears to searchers in Korea, open Naver through a South Korean residential IP, signed out. JapanProxies sells Korean residential IPs with country code kr, paid in crypto with no KYC. As of October 2026, 1 GB costs $2.62 and plans from 100 GB cost $0.50/GB; IPs are chosen by country, with optional city targeting (city availability varies).

Naver is run by Naver Corporation and is the main search portal in South Korea. Its result page does not look like Google's ten blue links: it groups results into sections such as Naver Blog, Naver Café, news, shopping, images and web documents, with search ads at the top.

Because many sections show content hosted on Naver itself, being visible in Korea often means appearing in Naver Blog or Naver Shopping results, not only ranking a website.

What changes when you open Naver Search from a Korean IP?

  • Section order. Which sections appear for a Korean query, and in which order.
  • Search ads. Ads from Naver's own search ad platform, shown to searchers in Korea.
  • Shopping results. Products and prices from Naver Shopping for Korean buyers.
  • Language and local news. Korean-language content and Korean news sources.
  • A signed-in profile. Naver personalises some sections for signed-in users. Stay signed out.
  • The exact area. City targeting (-city-seoul) gets an IP in that city when one is online, and city availability varies; the site may still infer a nearby area from other signals.
  • Content you do not publish. A proxy shows results; it does not change them.
  • Check where your brand, blog posts or products appear in Naver's sections for Korean keywords.
  • Verify that your Naver search ads show the right text and landing page.
  • Compare Naver and Google Korea results for the same keywords.
  • Run these checks for a client in Korea from outside the country.

What do Naver Search's rules say about automated access?

The robots.txt of search.naver.com disallows the whole host for all robots, and Naver's terms of service apply to every visit. Keep proxy checks of Naver result pages manual and occasional.

For data, Naver Developers offers official search APIs (blog, news, shopping and more) with a daily call quota, and Naver Search Advisor shows site owners how Naver indexes their pages. Advertisers get reports in Naver's search ad system. Use a Korean residential IP to see the full live result page as a searcher in Korea does.

Our own acceptable use policy applies too: public pages only, no sign-in on someone else's behalf, and respect for each site's decisions about access.

  • Username: USERNAME-country-kr-session-check1-ttl-30.
  • In the browser, open: https://search.naver.com/search.naver?query=YOUR+QUERY.
  • Browser language: Accept-Language: ko-KR,ko;q=0.9.
  • Keep checks manual and occasional.

Connect to gw.japanproxies.com on port 7777 (HTTP and HTTPS) or 7778 (SOCKS5), with the username and password from your dashboard. Without a session ID, each new connection can leave from a different Korean IP.

Check the exit IP before a manual check from South Korea (curl)
# 1. Confirm the exit is in South Korea (the response shows the IP and its country)
curl -x http://USERNAME-country-kr-session-check1-ttl-30:[email protected]:7777 https://ipinfo.io/json

# 2. Open the page by hand in a browser set to the same proxy and session
# (Firefox steps in /guides/setup/): keep this check manual.

How much does a Korean residential IP cost?

The same plans cover Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong, with no country surcharge. Occasional checks of Naver Search rarely need more than 5 GB; a page usually weighs a few hundred kilobytes to a few megabytes with images. Larger plans, down to $0.50/GB, are on the pricing page.

Why do Naver results look so different from Google?

Naver groups results into sections such as ads, Naver Blog, Naver Café, news, shopping and web documents, and many of them show content hosted on Naver itself. Visibility in Korea therefore depends on those sections as much as on website rankings.

Does Naver have an official search API?

Yes. Naver Developers offers search APIs for blogs, news, shopping and other sections, with a daily call quota and an application key. Use them for regular data, and a proxy for live page checks.

Do I need a Korean IP to check Naver?

Naver opens from abroad, but ads, shopping results and local content are built for searchers in South Korea. A Korean residential IP, signed out, shows the page the way a searcher in Korea sees it.
