**Quick answer — What are East Asia residential proxies from JapanProxies?**

**JapanProxies** residential proxies route your requests through home internet connections in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan or Hong Kong. You pick the place with a two-letter code in the username (`jp`, `kr`, `tw`, `hk`), and each new connection usually gets a new IP unless you set a sticky session (up to 30 minutes). Add a city, such as `-city-tokyo`, when you need one; city availability varies. As of October 2026, 1 GB costs $2.62 and traffic from 100 GB costs $0.50/GB. No KYC; pay in crypto.

## Which cities have their own page?

Country and city targeting are on every plan; city availability varies, and the checkout shows what is online. These city pages explain the local providers and what a city IP changes:

- **[Tokyo](https://japanproxies.com/residential-proxies/japan/tokyo/)** — Local listings, Tokyo-targeted ads and app checks in the capital.
- **[Osaka](https://japanproxies.com/residential-proxies/japan/osaka/)** — Kansai campaigns and regional pages, on NTT West and eo Hikari homes.
- **[Seoul](https://japanproxies.com/residential-proxies/south-korea/seoul/)** — Naver Place, Kakao Map and Seoul-targeted ads.
- **[Busan](https://japanproxies.com/residential-proxies/south-korea/busan/)** — Local results and campaigns outside the Seoul area.
- **[Taipei](https://japanproxies.com/residential-proxies/taiwan/taipei/)** — Google Taiwan local results, Taipei-targeted ads and app checks.

## How is a residential proxy different from a datacenter proxy?

A residential proxy sends your request out through an IP address that an internet provider assigned to a home connection. A datacenter proxy uses an address from a hosting company.

For checks in East Asia the difference is practical. Search engines and shops localise their pages for people at home in the country: language, currency, local listings, delivery messages and ads. A home connection in Japan or Korea is seen as an ordinary local visitor, so you see the page that local visitors get.

A residential IP does not give you permission that a site has not given. If a site restricts automated access or chooses not to serve a region, those rules still apply; see our [acceptable use policy](https://japanproxies.com/acceptable-use/).

## How do rotating and sticky sessions work?

- **Rotating** (default): `USERNAME-country-jp` gives a Japanese IP for each new connection, usually a different one. To get a new IP on every request, send one request per connection (turn off keep-alive): browsers, `requests.Session` and undici keep connections open, so they keep the same exit until the connection closes.
- **Sticky**: `USERNAME-country-jp-session-abc123-ttl-30` keeps the same IP for up to 30 minutes. Use it when a page and its follow-up requests must come from one address, such as a search result page and the pages you click from it.
- **Session length**: the time you set (ttl, in minutes), up to 30 minutes; the IP can change earlier, for example if the residential device goes offline. A new session ID usually gives a new IP.

A home connection can go offline at any time, so write your code to cope with a sticky session that ends early: retry with a new session ID.

## What does JapanProxies not offer?

JapanProxies does not offer static or ISP proxies, state or ZIP targeting, access to banking, government or payment portals, or use from mainland China, North Korea and sanctioned countries. In detail:

- **No state or ZIP targeting.** Country and city targeting are on every plan, with ASN targeting at no extra cost; city availability varies.
- **No static residential or ISP proxies.** A sticky session keeps one IP for up to 30 minutes; it is not an address reserved for you for months.
- **No access to banking, government or payment portals**, and no outgoing email: Banking, government and payment-portal sites, plus SMTP (email-sending) ports 25, 465 and 587.
- **No use from mainland China**, North Korea or sanctioned countries.

## Residential proxy questions

### Can one plan be used in several countries?

Yes. Traffic is counted per GB, not per country, so one 10 GB plan can serve checks in Japan in the morning and in South Korea in the afternoon. Change the country code in the username: `jp`, `kr`, `tw` or `hk`.

### Which protocols are supported?

HTTP, HTTPS (CONNECT) and SOCKS5. Use port 7777 for HTTP and HTTPS, and port 7778 for SOCKS5. With SOCKS5, use `socks5h` or `--socks5-hostname` so the hostname is resolved at the exit.

### How fast are East Asian residential IPs?

Speed depends on the home connection behind the IP and on the distance between you, the exit and the target. A home connection is slower and less stable than a server. We do not publish speed or success-rate figures: test your own targets with 1 GB first.

### Do I need to verify my identity?

JapanProxies does not verify identities. No KYC — no ID, no selfie, no documents. You get an account number, email is optional, and you pay in crypto. Use is governed by our [acceptable use policy](https://japanproxies.com/acceptable-use/).

### Where do the IPs come from?

From established partner networks of residential connections. What we ask of those networks, and what we can and cannot confirm, is on the [sourcing page](https://japanproxies.com/sourcing/).

**Start with 1 GB in all four countries** 1 GB for $2.62, paid from a $25 crypto top-up. The rest stays on your balance. [Get started](https://japanproxies.com/pricing/) · [Read the setup guide](https://japanproxies.com/guides/setup/)
