## What changed at Bright Data in July 2026?

Bright Data's documentation says that Residential zones created after July 7, 2026 are available to verified companies, through a KYC review. Accounts that use a personal email address cannot be approved for those zones. Bright Data's other products, such as ISP and datacenter proxies, are not covered by that rule.

For freelancers, small agencies and individual developers who check Japanese or Korean sites, that means new Residential zones now go through a company KYC review.

## When is JapanProxies the better choice?

- **You prefer not to send identity or company documents.** JapanProxies asks for no ID, no selfie and no documents.
- **You pay in crypto.** BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC, from a $25 top-up.
- **Your work is in Japan, Korea, Taiwan or Hong Kong**, and country-level IPs are enough: search checks, ad checks, public price checks and localization tests.
- **You buy small volumes.** 1 GB costs $2.62 and unused traffic never expires.

## When should I stay with Bright Data?

- **You need ZIP or mobile-carrier targeting in Japan.** JapanProxies targets countries, cities and ASNs, not ZIP codes or carriers.
- **You need other products**: unblocking tools, scraping APIs, datasets, ISP or datacenter proxies.
- **Your company requires a vendor that has completed its own compliance review of you**, with contracts and invoices to match.

We would rather you choose the right tool than switch for the wrong reason.

## How do I move a Japan setup from Bright Data to JapanProxies?

1. Buy a plan and copy your JapanProxies username and password.
2. Replace the host and port with `gw.japanproxies.com:7777` (or 7778 for SOCKS5).
3. Replace the country setting with `-country-jp` (or `kr`, `tw`, `hk`) in the username.
4. Replace session settings with `-session-ID-ttl-MINUTES` (the time you set (ttl, in minutes), up to 30 minutes; the IP can change earlier, for example if the residential device goes offline).
5. Replace city settings with `-city-NAME`, such as `-city-tokyo`; city availability varies.
